While working on the Fischer Pond project, its members have used many skills that they've acquired through our education at Cascade High School. The project has enabled us to put our knowledge of science, literature, technology, art, math, communication, and teamwork into action. The main goal of the Fischer Pond project is to increase the water quality of the pond and to improve the fish habitat. Therefore science is a key aspect in the project. Members of the Fischer Pond project have, and will continue to perform water quality tests and attempt to find solutions to the water quality problems that occur at Fischer Pond such as eliminating algal blooms, and oxygenating the pond. Grammar skills are also a key concept of the project. Without the ability to convey our message through writing, the project would fail. Our education in literature provides Fischer Pond members with the skills needed to apply for grants and achieve community support. Communication skills go hand in hand with literature since it is also another way the Fischer Pond group gains the communities support. The signs that have been placed at Fischer Pond are a product of the member's artistic abilities. Without the signs, the pond would loose much of its educational aspects. Finally, one of the most important skills that are applied to the Fischer Pond project is math. Our education in mathematics has allowed us to find the water flow and flush rate at the pond. This knowledge enables us to keep the pond at a semi-constant level. ![]()
