Our thermus group has been working with a variety of people. Two of the people we work closely with are Dr. Francisco Roberto and Dr. Deborah Newby of I.N.L.. We have spent time in their lab in Idaho Falls and they have spent much time in giving us as much help and information that they can provide. They have been wonderful sources for the thermus group and our project.
Recently another scientist that works with thermus has contacted us. His
name is Paul Good and he would like to do something with the bacteria
we have been
studying. He is a scientist from University of Michigan who works in Dr. Engelke’s
lab. He recently found our information on this site and is interested in starting
his own business preparing Taq polymerase once the patent expires in December
2006. He has told us that he would like to produce his own expression clone,
but he needs a source of Thermus Aquaticus DNA or bacteria itself. Paul Good
has asked us if we would be interested in selling him a sample of our DNA that
we have collected and sub-cultured from Vulcan hot spring.
Working with people outside of our small school is very helpful to our group
and we strongly appreciate the opportunities that these scientists provide
for us. We want to take our project to the highest level possible, and do
all that
can be done with our discoveries and hard work. We keep up the hard work
on our project almost daily. Every day we continue to learn and discover
more
about our project, communicate with other scientists, and understand just
how much a group
of kids in a small school can do. We have high expectations for our project
and hope to reach them.
The following people are those that have helped the Thermas Aquaticus group
previously, or are currently working with them.
